latter is available on free access. The classification order of the journals for each index was reviewed and the possible correlation between both indicators was evaluated using Spearman’s test. The Journal Citation Reports includes 50 specialized respiratory system journals and the SCImago Journal & Country Rank includes 98. In general, it was found that the top journals occupy similar positions in both classifications, as seen in Table 1, which lists the top 20 journals according to the SJR with their equivalent position in the IF. There was a very high correlation between the indicators for journals in this category (r=0.94; P<.001). Our data reveal that use of the SJR index does not significantly change the classification of respiratory system journals compared to the IF. Moreover, its calculation methods address the main limitations attributed to IF, including nuances, such as citation weighting, that may improve the characterization of the journals. All these aspects, added to the fact that SCImago Journal & Country Rank is free access, lead us to believe that SJR may be at present be considered not only as a complement but also as an alternative to the IF. Cryobiopsy in the diagnosis of diffuse interstitial lung disease: yield and cost-effectiveness analysis.
BACKGROUND Assessment of patients with suspected interstitial lung disease (ILD) includes surgical lung biopsy (SLB) when clinical and radiological data are inconclusive. However, cryobiopsy is acquiring an important role in the ILD diagnostic process. The objective of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic yield, safety and economic costs of the systematic use of cryobiopsy in the assessmen...
متن کاملEvaluation of Transbronchial Lung Cryobiopsy Size and Freezing Time: A Prognostic Animal Study.
BACKGROUND Transbronchial lung biopsy using a cryoprobe is a novel way of sampling lung parenchyma. Correlation of freezing time with biopsy size and complications has not been evaluated in vivo. OBJECTIVES The primary aim of the study is to evaluate the correlation between transbronchial cryobiopsy freezing time and size. The secondary aims are to evaluate histological quality of the biopsy ...
متن کاملPneumonic‐type mucinous lung adenocarcinoma diagnosed by transbronchial cryobiopsy
Primary lung adenocarcinoma with lepidic growth can mimic diffuse pulmonary parenchymal processes like infectious pneumonia or idiopathic inflammatory pneumonitis. We report a case of subacute pneumonitis refractory to antibiotic therapy and empirical corticosteroids, proven to be diffuse mucinous adenocarcinoma with lepidic growth on transbronchial cryobiopsy.
متن کاملUsefulness of Transbronchial Cryobiopsy in Interstitial Lung Disease
Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is a term that describes a group of more than 200 lung disorders that show varying degrees of infl ammation and fi brosis of the pulmonary interstitium. The etiology and pathophysiology of many of these disorders still remains poorly understood and is the topic of ongoing research and debate. The diagnostic approach to ILD can be complex and often requires a mult...
